Happening Now

Thank you for attending the Beaverton Climate Action Plan Open House!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Climate Action Open House on Thursday, Nov. 13! We were thrilled to welcome more than 60 community members, partners, and staff. Your feedback is already helping shape our annual work plans, highlight new opportunities for community involvement, and build a list of activities to help implement the Beaverton Climate Action Plan (BCAP).

What’s next? The updated BCAP is now in review with City staff and partners. A proposed final draft will be shared on our website in late January and presented to City Council in mid-February.

Climate Action in Beaverton

The current Beaverton Climate Action Plan (BCAP) was adopted by city council in November of 2019. It is a framework for action to reduce emissions and to help our community prepare for the impacts of climate change. The plan called for an update after five years. This update will create a clear, measurable path forward that reflects current community priorities for the benefit of all those who work, live, and play in Beaverton.

The City of Beaverton recognizes the importance of responding to climate change, to create a city that is livable, connected, accessible, safe, and sustainable. We are undertaking this work because cities, in collaboration together, are in a prime position to make both immediate and lasting change to slow the pace and impact of climate change. The updated plan will align with the climate action efforts of the city’s many partners.
